Reactance of Small Antennas

چکیده
The voltage difference between the two arms of the antenna is On the right is Fig. 86 from [2]. In general the electric field is related to the scalar and vector potentials by E = −∇V − ∂A/∂t = −∇V + iωA, assuming a time dependence of the form e−iωt. Then, ∫ 2 1 E · dl = V1 − V2 + iω ∫ 2 1 A · dl. However, close to a small linear dipole antenna the electric field is much larger than the magnetic field (see, for example, [3]), and the contribution of the vector potential to the electric field in negligible in this region.

Design Equation for Self Resonant Structures of Very Small Normal - Mode Helical Antennas
Recently, normal-mode helical antennas (NMHA) are employed as very small antennas for metal plate proximity uses [1] ~ [3]. In order to obtain efficient radiation, the self resonant condition of a NMHA should be satisfied. In this condition, the inductive reactance and the capacitive reactance of a NMHA are cancelled. As for the inductance, Wheeler presented an equation employing structural par...
متن کاملSmall Fractal Antennas
Antennas for hand-held communication devices are necessarily small, and typically use wavelengths λ that are large compared to the size of the antenna. This typically implies that the magnitude of the antenna reactance X (= imaginary part of the antenna impedance) is large compared to that of its radiation resistance Rrad (which is related to the time-average radiated power P and the peak curre...
متن کاملThe Foster Reactance Theorem for Antennas and Radiation Q
The calculation of antenna has been an interesting and a controversial topic for years. In this paper, we first give a rigorous study of antenna by introducing a complete description of the complex power balance relation for an antenna system. Using the complex Poynting theorem, we have shown that the antenna is essentially equivalent to a one port lossy network. The Foster reactance theorem is...
متن کاملA Fast Method for Calculation of Transformers Leakage Reactance Using Energy Technique
Energy technique procedure for computing the leakage reactance in transformers is presented. This method is very efficient compared with the use of flux element and image technique and is also remarkably accurate. Examples of calculated leakage inductances and the short circuit impedance are given for illustration. For validation, the results are compared with the results obtained using practic...
متن کاملCoupling Effects and Performance of Loran Transmitter Antennas
It is known that if a conductor resides in the neighboring of an antenna with a small distance relative to the wavelength, it induces a reverse current on the conductor. This paper involves the unavoidable coupling effects on some common types of LF antennas, due to the large wavelength in this frequency band. In particular, after some discussions about top-loaded antennas, the coupling effect ...

It is shown that in the paper by S. Hrabar, J. Bartolic, and Z.Sipus, the negative permeability of the modified split ring resonators, whichare used to obtain the miniaturized waveguide, is not excited, and there isno negative permeability metamaterial.
